Interdisciplinary Architectural Designer
Advocate, Artist, + Philanthropist
Camessia Johnson is an award-winning interdisciplinary architectural and graphic designer with a passion for creating meaningful, community-centered environments. Her professional portfolio encompasses mixed-use developments, retail, multifamily housing, adaptive reuse, master planning, and environmental graphics, complemented by pro-bono design consulting and branding for local nonprofit organizations.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Environmental Design from Morgan State University in May 2014, graduating cum laude. That same year, she was recognized as one of four recipients of the inaugural AIA Baltimore Future Architects Resources (FAR) Scholarship. Deeply committed to community engagement and design advocacy, Camessia has maintained active leadership roles within AIA Baltimore and ULI Baltimore. Having served as Chair of the Future Architects Resources Committee, she focused on elevating student awareness of the built environment and introducing elementary and middle school students to careers in architecture and design. Her appointment as Associate Director on the AIA Baltimore Executive Board further advanced her mission to bridge the gap between students and the professional design community. Her leadership extends to collaborative, award-winning initiatives such as CANstruction and the B-More Resilient Rowhouse Design Competition, through which she has demonstrated a sophisticated ability to lead teams, foster partnerships, and drive impactful design solutions.
As a multidisciplinary designer, Camessia merges technical expertise in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM workflows with a strong foundation in visual storytelling, branding, and user-centered design. Her work reflects a nuanced understanding of both large-scale development and the human experience, resulting in designs that are functional, memorable, and socially impactful. She is especially passionate about projects that transform spaces into environments that uplift communities, promote sustainability, and reflect cultural identity.
Currently, Camessia serves as the Morgan State University NOMAS Alumni Liaison, where she actively mentors emerging designers. She recently taught a masterclass titled “Designing the Future: AI, Architecture & Sustainable Innovation” and continues to develop educational programming that empowers the next generation of design professionals. Looking ahead, she is focused on contributing to innovative, collaborative design teams that value creativity, strategy, and social responsibility. Her objective is to synthesize technical precision with creative vision to deliver thoughtful design solutions that align with the needs and values of both clients and communities.
